Balancing Act: Juggling Business, Baby, and Everything in Between

There’s a version of me that thought I’d “figure it out” by now.

You know… the version with the color-coded calendar, the clean kitchen at all times, the thriving business, the perfectly engaged toddler, and maybe even a hot cup of coffee that didn’t get reheated three times.

That version is not exactly who is writing this. But this version? She’s learning. And I think she’s actually doing okay.

Because here’s the truth: balancing business, baby, and everything in between isn’t about

mastering it all. It’s about learning how to move with it. Gracefully on some days, barely hanging on on others.

And both count!!

The Myth of Balance

Let’s just go ahead and say it Balance isn’t 50/50.

Some days your business gets your focus. Some days your baby does. Some days the only thing that gets your full attention is survival and a semi decent dinner.

Balance, I’m learning, looks more like awareness + intention than perfection.

What’s Actually Helping Me (Right Now)

Not what should work. What is working... for now

1. Pick 3 Things (Not 30)

At the start of the day, I choose 3 priorities. Not a full to-do list. Just three.

If I get those done? It’s a win.

Because overwhelm doesn’t come from having things to doit comes from having too many things competing for attention.

2. Work in Pockets, Not Blocks

I used to think I needed a full uninterrupted workday.

Now? I work in pockets. Naptime. Independent play. Even 15 minutes counts.

It’s less about “deep work marathons” and more about forward movement.

3. Lower the Bar (Strategically)

Not everything needs to be done at 100%.

Some things need excellence (client work, important decisions). Some things need “done and out the door.”

Learning the difference has saved me. Although I often forget HA

4. Create Anchors in Your Day

Instead of strict schedules, I rely on anchors:

  • Morning reset (coffee + a few quiet minutes)

  • Midday check-in

  • Evening wind-down (even if it’s just sitting on the couch together)

Let’s Talk About Mental Health (Because We Need To)

Motherhood + business ownership + a brain that doesn’t always want to cooperate…

…it’s a lot.

Diagnosed with ADHD at 38 is really interesting , but before that recent diagnosis i noticed certain patterns.

  • Starting everything, finishing nothing

  • Hyper-focusing on the wrong task

  • Feeling overwhelmed → shutting down

  • Or swinging the opposite way into overdrive

And here’s what I’m learning:

You’re not lazy. You’re overloaded. You don’t lack discipline. You need structure that works for YOU.

For me, that looks like:

  • Writing things down immediately (or they’re gone forever)

  • Breaking tasks into tiny steps

  • Giving myself permission to pause instead of pushing to burnout

  • Talking to someone when the mental load gets too heavy

This matters. Because we can’t build beautiful lives while ignoring our internal world.

Making Space for What Matters Most

In all of this: business, baby, responsibilities, I keep coming back to this thought

What do I actually want to remember?

Not the perfectly completed checklist. Not the spotless house.

I want to remember:

  • The way she laughs

  • The quiet moments with my husband

  • The feeling of building something meaningful

So I protect that.

Even if it’s just:

  • A slow morning

  • A walk outside- less now as it;s getting hotter in Florida- ughhh

  • Saying “not today” to something that can wait

Final Thoughts (From One Mom to Another)

If you’re in this season too of juggling, building, caring, trying…

You’re doing better than you think.

This isn’t a season that requires perfection. It requires presence. It requires grace. It requires adjusting… again and again.
